The Vein Center of Georgia becomes Saint Joseph’s Vein Center
Addition of High Profile Vascular Practices to Strengthen Health System’s Service Lines

Atlanta, GA (July 14, 2011)— Saint Joseph’s Heath System (SJHS) is proud to announce Georgia Vascular Clinic, The Vascular Institute of Georgia, and the Vein Center of Georgia have joined Saint Joseph’s Medical Group (SJMG) ; the move effectively makes Saint Joseph’s home to the largest and most comprehensive employed vascular group in the state.  Like Saint Joseph’s, Georgia Vascular Clinic (GVC) and the Vascular Institute of Georgia (VIG) share strong roots within metro Atlanta and northern Georgia. For decades these practices have been devoted to the welfare of our communities, offering patients the highest quality of care and the most advanced techniques available in cardiovascular medicine.

SJHS has been surgically treating a wide variety of vascular conditions for nearly a century and Saint Joseph’s surgeons and it was Saint Joseph’s surgeons that introduced percutaneous peripheral interventions to the Atlanta and regional market.  “Saint Joseph’s has always been a center of excellence with an unequalled reputation in cardiac care,” says Brooks Whitney, MD, Georgia Vascular Clinic, Chief of Vascular Surgery at Saint Joseph’s Hospital. “Because both Georgia Vascular and the Vascular Institute of Georgia share Saint Joseph’s strong commitment to patient quality and medical innovation—we see joining Saint Joseph’s Medical Group as an exciting opportunity to combine our personnel and resources to best benefit our staffs and patients as we grow and expand our scope of service.”

The physicians joining Saint Joseph’s from Georgia Vascular Clinic include: Brooks Whitney, M.D., Joseph Zarge, M.D., and Charles Lewinstein, M.D..  From the Vascular Institute of Georgia: Michael Clark M.D.; Peter H’Doubler Jr. M.D.; Mark Mittenthal M.D. and Mark Rheudasil M.D.  Collectively these physicians have seven locations across north Georgia, including the Saint Joseph’s campus, Roswell, and Cumming.
