Five Things the Vein Treatment Community is Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving!

In honor of the holiday, we thought we'd stop and consider the things that we are thankful for. As individuals, we all have our own lists which include friends, family, achievements, inspirations and other things. But as a community, our gratitude is more focused. Here are five things that most people in the vein treatment community are thankful for this holiday weekend:

1. Recognition. Phlebology is finally starting to get serious recognition in the medical community as an important area of study. We're happy to have the hard work of qualified vein specialitsts recognized within the broader community.

2. Technological advancements. There are new advancements made in technology on a regular basis. Whether its crochet hooks or lasers, we're always happy to see forward motion made in the development of treating patients.

3. Compression stockings. Yes, the new technology is something to be thankful for but we're also happy with some of the old things in the industry. Compression stockings are simple, relatively cheap for patients and yet impressively effective in preventing and treating many vein conditions.

4. Options. One of the best things that is happening right now in the vein treatment community is that all of the developments are creating numerous options for treating patients. This means that care can be more individualized and vein treatment professionals can provide better options to suit a patient's specific needs.

5. Patients. No, we don't want anyone to have vein problems. But we're happy that the patients who are out there are getting increasingly well-informed about the advancements and options available to them. Working with informed patients who are interested in their own health is something that doctors should always be thankful for.

What are you thankful for this holiday season?
