Medical Acquisition Reflects Demand for Vein Treatment

Recognition of the importance of treating venous disease is growing. Just yesterday we reported here on the fact that the AMA has added credibility to this area of study. And signs are showing up all over the place that the trend towards an interest in this area of medicine is on the rise.

One of those signs was the recent acquisition of Vein Clinics of America by IntegraMed, a company whose business is not in vein treatment at all but rather in fertility treatment. Debate can be had to no end about whether fertility treatment specialists should be making $28 million investments in vein treatment medicine. But the point isn't the medicine so much as it is the business.

There is money to be made in vein treatment these days. That's because there is a growing interest in the demand for treatment of venous disease. And this bodes well for patients. The likely outcome is that competition is going to increase amongst medical providers who offer this kind of care. Competition drives doctors to perform better and it also drives researchers to provide new technologies. This creates a future which could be saturated with improved treatment for vein problems.
