Compression Stockings for Low Blood Pressure

Updated on: November 28, 2018
The main reason that people choose to wear compression stockings is because they want to reduce the problems that are associated with varicose veins. Compression stockings are medical nylons that are designed to allow for appropriate pressure in the legs particularly when you are unable to move around a lot such as when you are on a plane or when you are recovering from surgery and are stuck in a hospital bed. However, varicose veins aren't the only sign that you would need to use compression stockings. People who have low blood pressure may also be told by their doctors that they should make use of the compression stockings typically used to deal with varicose veins. Low blood pressure can cause a pooling of blood in the veins which may or may not lead to varicose veins. Compression stockings can reduce that problem and can help keep people with low blood pressure medically safe.
