Dr. Michael Phillips is a board-certified general and vascular surgeon treating patients at his private practice in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin since 1995. Dr. Phillips also holds teaching appointments as a Clinical Associate Professor and Physicians Assistant Preceptor at Marquette University.
Dr. Phillips served 2 terms as the Chief of Surgery at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. Dr. Phillips has trained fellow surgeons in complex advanced laparoscopic procedures for the past 15 years.
He brings his broad exposure of these techniques and surgical skills, to other surgeons throughout the mid-western United States. Dr. Phillips is highly respected among his peers and patients.
Dr. Phillips received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, and completed his surgical internship and residency training at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year, completing his residency in 1991 He also served as a Major in the United States Army Reserves for over 20 years.
Dr. Phillips’ work has been appeared in numerous publications and presentations, and he has also invented and manufactured several medical devices. As co-founder of Vector Surgical, LLC., a medical device company, that develops innovative devices providing greater accuracy and speed of surgical procedures.
In his spare time, Dr. Phillips enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, he also donates his time as a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight, Inc., serving patients in need of free air transportation for medically related needs.
an outpatient procedure performed to remove spider and varicose veins through small, slit-like incisions in the skin. Since veins are extremely collapsible, even the largest affected veins can often be removed through tiny incisions using the ambulatory phlebectomy procedure. This minimally invasive treatment does not require sutures or general anesthesia and can easily be performed in the doctor's office with minimal downtime. It also has fewer risks and less associated pain than with traditional surgical treatment.

Spider Vein Laser Treatment While spider and varicose veins have been successfully treated for years through conventional methods such as stripping, ligation and sclerotherapy, these procedures often cause pain and other unwanted symptoms during and after treatment. Laser procedures offer patients more precise results through a minimally invasive procedure, which heats the vein and causes it to close, rather than removing it surgically.
Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to treat painful, unsightly varicose and spider veins. These veins are treated by injecting a solution of sodium chloride directly into the damaged veins, causing irritation and eventual clotting and collapse of the vein. Sclerotherapy has been used on patients across the world since the 1930s and remains the primary effective treatment for varicose and spider veins.
Subfascial Endoscopic Perforator Surgery
Subfascial endoscopic perforator surgery (SEPS) is a minimally invasive procedure performed to treat chronic vein ulcers that develop as a result of deep vein thrombosis, chronic venous insufficiency or other conditions.
While many diseased leg veins are visible on the skin in the form of varicose or spider veins, many patients may experience significant vein reflux that can only be detected through ultrasound imaging. A venous ultrasound can show a thorough, detailed image of the veins, along with the direction of blood flow to help accurately diagnose vascular conditions.
