Do you suffer from varicose veins? Many people have put off treatment for their varicose veins believing they would have to undergo vein stripping, which is major surgery requiring hospitalization, general anesthesia, several weeks of recovery time, and results in significant scarring, pain, and other potential risks and complications. We're proud to introduce cutting-edge medical technologies to this area. We invite you to explore our rapidly growing assortment of diagnostic and therapeutic devices and services.
You might benefit from thermal ultrasound-guided vein ablation by VNUS radiofrequency (RF) Closure , CoolTouch endovenous CTEV laser, or Angiodynamics laser. We proudly offer all of these devices at Vascular Epicenter. We can reverse symptoms almost immediately with simple virtually pain-free office-based procedure.
Now there is no reason to postpone treatment and continue enduring pain, discomfort, and unsightly disfigurements often caused by varicose veins.
Steven Brian Epstein, M.D.
Dr. Epstein is Brooklyn born and educated. He earned Bachelor of Sciences degrees in mathematics and in chemistry at Brooklyn College and his Doctor of Medicine degree at SUNY - Downstate, also known as Health Sciences Center of Brooklyn.
During high school and college Steve was a gas station attendant and later an appetizing clerk. These jobs catalyzed his unique bedside manner. Meanwhile he volunteered at Coney Island Hospital (you guessed it -- Brooklyn!) and this experience firmed his interests in pursuing the medical profession.
Dr. Epstein completed residencies in general surgery at Staten Island University Hospital - North Campus and in diagnostic radiology at The Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn Heights. He then combined these disciplines via fellowship training in vascular and interventional radiology at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York. He is since a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology; from that same organization he has earned Certification of Additional Qualification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology.
For ten years Steven performed innovative vascular and interventional techniques at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Long Island. During this time he trained other vascular specialists in peripheral metal stent deployments. In every instance this was the first procedure of its kind at each hospital including St. Francis, world renown for cardiac and coronary therapies.
Since 2001 Dr. Epstein has been practicing diagnostic and vascular/interventional radiology at St. Barnabas Hospital, a Level 1 trauma center and teaching institution in the South Bronx. St. Barnabas offers several training programs including radiology.
Dr. Epstein was unanimously chosen as Attending of the Year by his residents in 2006 which marked the inception of this prestigious award. Written testimonials from these fine physicians will be available on this website in the near future.
Steven is often confronted in the hospital with diagnosis and treatment for the acutely and chronically ill inpatient. Sometimes the beeper goes off for an emergency in the middle of the night or on a weekend and he continues to welcome the challenge. But he has also performed many outpatient procedures including fibroid embolizations, image-guided biopsies and drainages, and corrections of dialysis access grafts and fistulas. He'll be providing still more innovative techniques at Vascular Epicenter.
The doctor used to play and coach in organized softball and football leagues and has a few championship trophies to show for his efforts. He continues to be an avid and occasionally competitive distance swimmer.
Steven is a guest lecturer for doctors and various groups and clubs in and out of the medical field. He is a published author and co-author in vascular and infectious disease.
