David M. Smith, D.O.
Dr. Smith is a well known Vascular Surgeon in Arizona and has been honored as a “Top Doc” by Phoenix Magazine in 2003, 2005, 2006. Dr. David Smith attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas. Dr. Smith received his Internship and Residency training at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He continued his Vascular and Endovascular training at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Smith was the Chief Surgical Resident and received the Outstanding Intern Award. Dr. Smith is a member of the American College of Phlebology, American Medical Association, and American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, American Osteopathic Association, Arizona Osteopathic Association, and International Society for Endovascular Surgery. Dr. Smith is the Chairman of Endovascular Department at one of Banner Health’s Hospitals. He also served as Vice Chief of Staff from 2004-2007. Dr. Smith has extensive training in Vascular Surgery and was one of the first doctors to perform minimally invasive procedures for venous disease in the State of Arizona. Dr. Smith and his family reside in the Phoenix area. He is dedicated to his children’s development and activities, and his involvement in his church.
Thomas L. Pester, M.D.
Dr. Pester is a General Surgeon who received his medical training at the University of Nebraska College of Medicine. He completed his Residency in General Surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Pester is an Active Member of the American College of Phlebology, American Medical Association, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Pester was the former Chief of Surgery at Luke Air Force Base and has had ties to the Arizona community since 1974. Dr. Pester works with The Center for Venous Disease in Arizona and El Paso, TX offices. Dr. Pester also has a thriving General Surgery practice in El Paso that focuses on women’s health issues. Dr. Pester has treated venous disease for over 20 years and has treated venous disease with minimally invasive techniques for over four years. Dr. Pester has served in various medical staff positions including Chief of Staff and Department Chairmanships. Dr. Pester holds medical licenses in Arizona and Texas. He is a Certified Doctor Training Site for VNUS® Medical Technologies and is a faculty member for VNUS Medical Education. Dr. Pester’s wife, Judy Pester is a doctor in the specialty of Pathology. They are both active in the Phoenix and El Paso communities. They enjoy dog agility competition with their 3 Standard Poodles. The Drs. Pester also enjoy Vintage Car Racing with a Formula Ford and 356 Porsche. They maintain a residence in Scottsdale in addition to a home in El Paso. Dr. Pester is board certified in Phebology (vein disease).
Michael A. Herion, M.D.
Dr. Herion graduated from Arizona State University in 1992 and completed his medical school training in Baltimore, Maryland in 1998. He went on to complete his residency and fellowship training in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Herion is a board certified surgeon and a nationally recognized leader in Aesthetic Medicine and Oculoplastics. He was selected as a member of the prestigious National Education Faculty (NEF) for Allergan® Cosmetic and serves as an educational faculty member for Thermage®. This distinction identifies Dr. Herion as one of the top educators and aesthetic providers in the country. He has trained medical professionals from all over the world in the art of Botox®, dermal fillers, cosmetic laser applications and sclerotherapy. He is the newest physician to join the Center for Venous Disease family and looks forward to expanding his vein care practice. Dr. Herion is a Major in the United States Air Force and has been providing care to our country’s soldiers since 1998. In addition, Dr. Herion has been a sought after speaker at numerous national meetings and medical society conferences. He enjoys hiking, mountain biking and competing in adventure races throughout the Southwest during his leisure time. He can be found at every A.S.U. football game in support of his alma mater.
