The Vein Treatment Center of NJ is among the pioneer sites dedicated to the academically oriented study and treatment in Phlebology in the United States. Founded in 1994 by Dr. Dean Wasserman, a Board Certified Vascular Surgeon, the Center remains the sole practice in Bergen County directed by a Fellowship trained Vascular Surgeon which is exclusively limited to vein care.
The Center continues to be driven by the original vision upon which its foundations were developed.
These principals include a personal respect for our patients and a genuine commitment to the millions of people affected by this formerly neglected field of vascular medicine. In addition, the facility represents a regional center of excellence in quality of care and education, and has defined the true meaning of minimally invasive treatment.
An inviting, friendly staff and environment providing maximum value with relentless effort to assure maximum insurance carrier reimbursement on behalf of our patients.
Dr. Dean Wasserman earned his M.D. degree in an accelerated three year program at New York Medical College, Westchester Medical Center. His surgical internship was received in Boston and completed five year surgical training at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center where he was designated as Surgical Chief Resident.
Following surgical training, Dr. Wasserman was accepted as a Fellow at the prestigious Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services (Shock, Trauma) in Baltimore where he received unique trauma and critical care medicine training in the civilian prototype which defined Level I trauma centers across the country and allowed him to contribute to the evolution of the Regional Trauma Center at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Dr. Wasserman was then privileged to be chosen as the second Vascular Fellow at UMDNJ, mentored by the premier vascular surgeon Dr. Robert Hobson II, a brilliant founder of Academic Vascular Surgery, specifically dedicated to education, phlebology, and a founding member of multiple elite vascular societies and prolific researcher. Here, Dr. Wasserman’s training allowed him to earn the newly created Board Certification in Vascular Surgery, and shared the extraordinary inception of non-invasive vascular diagnostics. This led to his appointment as Chief of the Vascular Laboratory at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ.
He has also served as co-director of the Surgical Intensive Care unit at HUMC, Chief of the Department of Vascular Surgery at Holy Name Hospital, and was fortunate to receive surgical privileges as The Valley Hospital’s first Board Certified Vascular Surgeon.
Dean Wasserman, MD, RVT, FACS, FACPh, is, among other organizations, a member of the American College of Surgery, American College of Phlebology, the Society of Vascular Surgery, the American Venous Forum, the International Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, The NJ Vascular Society, the Eastern Vascular Society, the Venous Coalition, the Society of Angiology, Peripheral Vascular Society, the American Medical Association, the Bergen County Medical Society, etc.
For over twenty years he has been and remains on staff at Hackensack University Medical Center, The Valley Hospital, and holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at UMDNJ, Newark, NJ.
The Center has been designated as a luminary phlebology resource, an authoritative physician and patient educational source offering second opinion consultations, comprehensive compression hosiery and garments, publisher of the “Venogram” phlebology newsletter; the first ICAVL accredited Vascular Diagnostic Laboratory in a private setting in Bergen County, and provider of the most comprehensive, durable, and time-tested multi-modality treatments. All treatments are “walk in – walk out”, with no physical restrictions and immediate ability to continue all usual daily activities.
