Spider Vein

Spider veins are one of the most common skin lesions seen in women. These very tiny veins which are "star-shaped" with numerous fine lines radiating from the center are most common on the face and thigh. They are usually blue to purple in color, may be multiple and appear in clusters. Spider veins are more common in women and this has been linked to estrogen. Spider veins are also more common during pregnancy. Despite their appearance, spider veins are harmless and do not cause any symptoms.

Spider veins on the face have been linked to prolonged exposure to sun.

There are several ways to treat spider veins. The two most commonly used methods to treat spider veins include laser treatments and sclerotherapy. No matter what the treatment, spider veins can recur.
