Sclerotherapy Los Angeles

We’ve all been humming the tune for decades now, the Beverly Hillbillies theme song, you know that Jed Clampett’s kinfolk told him to move to California, it was the place to be, swimming pools and movie stars! And Lost Angeles has always been the home of the stars and the place to be and if you’d like to look like a star and have problems with spider veins, then sclerotherapy Los Angeles is where you want to be. A cosmetic surgeon can help you to deal with these unsightly problems.

Spider veins are small, thin veins that lie close to the surface of the skin. Although these minute veins are linked to your larger venous system, they are not a necessary part of it. Spider veins are caused by swollen and dilated, small veins under the skin. When the pressure inside the vein increases enough to overcome normal resistance of the vein wall, spider veins appear. In women, the ability of veins to resist increased pressure is reduced when the body’s estrogen level drops.

Endovenous Laser Treatment

With the advanced technology of lasers, treatment of spider veins and deeper, reticular veins can be done relatively easily right in the cosmetic surgeon’s office. Lasers are extremely safe and effective on leg veins, as well as veins visible on the face, neck, and chest. The treatments cause very few side effects and you can resume your regular activities immediately following the procedure.

The number of treatments will be determined during your consultation and depends on the size of the vein and your body’s ability to heal. Treatment time lasts from 15 to 30 minutes. During the procedure, the laser’s heat damages the vein walls and causes the body to induce a healing process. Once healed, the veins shrink and become less visible or in optimal results, disappear altogether.

Generally there are no side effects, but swelling and minor bruising can occur. Due to only mild pain associated with the treatment, normal activities may be resumed immediately. It is also advised to limit sun exposure to minimize the risk of complications.

On average the cost of sclerotherapy is $273. If you are experiencing problems with spider veins you can find a Los Angeles Vein Treatment Center now. Well not it’s time to say goodbye, we’d like to thank you folks for kindly droppin’ in. You’re all invited back again to this locality, to have a heapin’ helpin’ of our hospitality, Hillbilly, that is, set a spell, take your shoes off, y’all come back now, hear?

VNUS Closure Fast

The VNUS Closure FAST is a relatively new procedure designed to treat varicose veins. Unlike the olden days, when varicose veins were stripped surgically, the Closure procedure utilizes radiofrequency waves generated by an electrode to close the vein.

The principles of the VNUS Closure Fast technique is to generate radiofrequency waves through an electrode. The heat generated from these electrode causes the veins to heat and eventually collapse. With time, the veins are removed by the body’s scavenging system.

Unlike the previous VNUS closure procedure which only has a heating probe at the very end of the electrode, the VNUS Closure Fast has 6.5 cm of an electrode which can generate the radiofrequency waves. Thus, nearly 6.5 cm of the vein can be close in a matter of seconds.

Further, the VNUS closure Fast procedure uses a higher temperature to close off the varicose vein. The entire saphenous vein in the thigh varies from 20-40 cm and thus the entire procedure can be closed off in a few minutes.

The VNUS Closure Fast procedure is an outpatient procedure done either in a hospital or in a radiology suite. The entire procedure is visualized under ultrasound.

There are no extensive preparations required prior to the procedure but one must:

- not take aspirin about a week prior to the procedure
- discuss with the physician when to stop any blood thinning or other medications
- wait at least 1-2 weeks if there is evidence of any type of skin infection

On the day of the procedure, you will be asked to lie down on a bed and the leg will be cleaned. The varicose vein in the thigh area will be identified from the knee to the groin. A small amount of a local anesthetic will be injected into the skin and a small needle will be placed in the varicose vein. Through this needle the VNUS Closure Fast electrode will be inserted and directed up to the groin.

When the catheter is in position, Radiofrequency energy is applied to the vein and the catheter is gently withdrawn. The radiofrequency energy heats up the vein and causes it to collapse. This leads to eventual closure of the vein

Following the procedure, a bandage is placed over the insertion site, and additional compression is provided to keep the area clean. One is encouraged to walk and resume all normal activities
Compared to the standard VNUS closure procedure, the Closure Fast technique only takes a few minutes.

Current data indicate that individuals who have been treated with the VNUS closure Fast procedure have:

- Faster recovery
- Minimal pain
- Minimal bruising
- Less pain
The majority of individuals resume their normal activities in a day. After a week, the majority of individuals show improvement in their leg symptoms, the final cosmetic appearance takes a few months to appear.

Like the Closure procedure, complications can occur but are very rare. The potential complications that can occur with the Closure Fast procedure include:

- vessel perforation
- thrombosis
- pulmonary embolism
- phlebitis
- hematoma
- infection
- paresthesia (numbness or tingling)
- Skin burn.

The Closure Fast procedure is only for large varicose veins. It is not suitable for spider veins. The Closure procedure has been used to treat patients across a wide range of ages

Limited data on the Closure Fast procedure indicate that most patients are satisfied with the results and there have been no recurrences reported

The average cost of the surgery ranges from $2-500 per leg.

Sclerotherapy is a spider vein treatment that involves an injection of a solution, usually sodium chloride, a salt solution, or sotradecol, a detergent, straight into the vein. The solution aggravates the inside layer of the blood vessel, causing it to swell and stick together, and the blood to clot. Within time, the vein transforms into scar tissue and ultimately fades from view. Sclerotherapy is a successful procedure that has been used by Dermatologists since the 1930s.

If you have had a blood clot in the past your physician will decide if you are a good candidate for sclerotherapy, your overall health of the area that needs to be treated will play a major factor as well as where the blood clot was found.

The Procedure

You may have some mild discomfort and cramping for about 1-2 minutes, especially if it is a larger vein that has been injected. The procedure normally lasts 15-30 minutes. It’s best if you wear shorts during the procedure.

The number of veins injected in one treatment can vary, depending on the size and location of the veins, and your overall health.

Varicose veins differ from spider veins in that varicose veins are much bigger and darker in color and they tend to bulge. Varicose veins are usually indicative of more severe vein ailment and they are more painful. Sclerotherapy can be used to deal with varicose veins in certain people, but most often surgical treatment is required for this situation.

The Procedure

Generally, the sclerosing solution will be injected through a very fine needle directly into your vein.

Sclerotherapy is normally performed right in your doctor’s office by a dermatologist or vascular medicine specialist who will also recommend that you do not participate in any aerobic activity for two days after the procedure.

Side Effects

Generally there are no side effects, but swelling and minor bruising can occur. Due to only mild pain associated with the treatment, normal activities may be resumed immediately. It is also advised to limit sun exposure to minimize the risk of complications.

Sclerotherapy Injection Procedure

In this procedure, sclerotherapy injection, your veins are injected with a sclerosing solution that will make them collapse and fade from sight. This can also clear up other symptoms that you may be experiencing that are associated with spider veins, like aching, burning, swelling and night cramps.
