Women have always had a busy role in society. Originally (and controversially for some) they were the ones who had to take care of the house and the children. Nowadays, women have careers and are even more on the go than they were before. However, in between all of the running around, it is important that women also take the time to care for their physical wellbeing.
Something that some women develop (no matter what their age) is spider veins. This kind of vein irregularity is immediately recognizable, in that it consists of visibly thin, scraggly veins that are dark red to purplish red in color. Although spider veins can appear on the lower legs, they are usually found in the upper thigh area.
There are many different ways in which spider veins can occur, but one of the first ways is through weight gain. When a person gains a lot of weight, that is all the more pressure that is placed on the circulatory system in the legs. This means that it is harder for the blood to get through certain veins, so the vein walls will swell in order to let the blood flow effectively through.
If a woman develops these kinds of veins because of basic obesity, the first thing that she should do is start on a healthy diet plan that restricts intake of saturated fats. It is best to focus on foods that are high in fiber. It takes more energy for the body to be able to process the fat. This in turn boosts the metabolism and makes the body burn more calories.
Something else that the woman will need to do is exercise. Too many women become obese by not eating the right foods and not getting enough exercise. However, this does not mean that she should immediately go and run around the neighborhood several times. Rather, she should place more of an emphasis on gradually building up a healthy energy level that her body can accommodate.
Ironically, just as spider veins can be caused by obesity, they can also be caused by exercise. Too much strenuous activity in too short of a time results in the strain being put on the circulatory system in the legs once again. Additionally, women who exercise in the wrong footwear (think jogging in tennis shoes) also sometimes get these kinds of veins.
Indeed, as fun as shoes can be, sometimes the most fashionable shoes are the worst ones for the feet. Take, for example, high heels. They look beautiful, but if a woman walks around or stands in them for long periods of time, that is yet another way that women get these kinds of veins.
So, how can these kinds of veins be treated? The first way is through sclerotherapy, which is a procedure that involves medical injections being given directly into the veins. The second way is through laser treatments, but that is usually only done for especially serious veins. Both methods will require more than one treatment session in order to obtain optimal results.
