The Benefits and the Disadvantages of Getting Spider Vein Treatment

Updated on: August 18, 2014

Aging is an odd thing for many people – some deal with it, and others try to run away from it. But regardless of how people cope with it, it is safe to assume that no one really wants to look their age. But, that doesn't stop Mother Nature from taking its course in the form of wrinkles and veins randomly showing up.

You, for one, are definitely not thrilled with the fact that you need to get spider vein treatment. You don't consider fifty to be old, and in the grand scheme of things, with people living longer than ever these days, it certainly isn't. However, your spider veins really look ugly, and you figure it is better to get the spider vein treatment now than wait around for any potential complications.

You could have laser therapy as part of your spider vein treatment, but the reality is that your spider veins really are not that serious yet. So you have chosen instead to get the most common form of spider vein treatment – which is sclerotherapy.

In this treatment method, regulated amounts of medicine are injected into the spider veins to make them collapse. The benefit to this procedure is that over time, the veins will eventually disappear. However, the disadvantages are that it will take a significant amount of time (usually a period of a few months) before the veins are gone for good. Also, this procedure, since it is done over a period of time, is not considered to be cheap. So, be sure you have enough money, as well as enough patience.
