How to Protect Yourself From Getting a Spider Vein

Updated on: August 18, 2014

Society is definitely interesting. While people strive for perfection, they are also fascinated by imperfections. Take, for example, the dichotomy between a young and an old person. While the old person envies the younger person's wrinkle-free skin, the young person is fascinated by how the old person's skin shows the "ravages of time".

However, some skin imperfections can be prevented, like that of the annoying spider vein. The spider vein is a curious vein, which generally appears on the upper thighs and lower calves. There are many different reasons why a spider vein shows up, but luckily, there are ways that it can be prevented.

If you enjoy running or playing sports, then you probably know all about the proper footwear you should have, right? Wrong. You've probably seen at least one person running along wearing basic tennis shoes. Too many people choose to get sneakers that either look really nice, or cost next to nothing. Neither of these categories are meant for athletics.

One of the causes of a spider vein is, ironically, exercise without the right sneakers. These veins are an indication of circulatory problems caused by too much pressure on the legs. Look for sneakers with gel soles, and mesh to promote airflow through the feet. Yes, you might have to shell out a hundred bucks for a good pair, but it is worth it in the long run (no pun intended). This way, you will feel more comfortable, perform better athletically, and be secure in the fact that you're doing what you can to maintain healthy circulation.
