Large, bulging veins close to the skin's surface are often found in the lower legs and feet and are called varicose. Because we walk, stand and run on our feet, veins in our lower legs and feet receive quite a bit of blood pressure. Varicose veins can be more than a cosmetic concern since they impede blood flow and hinder the return of oxygen-depleted blood from the lower legs and back to the heart and lungs.
The cause for this is damaged valves that allow backward blood flow and blood pooling, enlarging the veins.
Untreated veins can lead to serious medical conditions with associated pain, inflammation and discoloration.
Ambulatory phlebectomy involves small incisions or needle punctures that are used to extract the problematic veins with a phlebectomy hook. A hook is inserted into a micro-incision in the leg. A section of the vein is hooked and then removed through the incision. With this procedure, a compression bandage is worn for two weeks. This minimizes swelling and discomfort and allows for proper healing.
About Miami Vein Center
Welcome to Miami Vein Center!
Varicose veins take away from the beauty and appearance of your legs. Perhaps more importantly, varicose veins produce significant symptoms and can lead to serious medical conditions. The good news is that varicose veins can be removed quickly, with minimal discomfort, in a doctor's office. There is no need for hospitalization and the recovery time is measured in minutes, not weeks. Almost immediately, you will be able to do all the things you did before you developed varicose veins.
While this may sound too good to be true, the expert staff at the Miami Vein Center using clinically proven new technology called endovenous therapy can eliminate your varicose veins with a minimally invasive procedure in the comfort and security of our office. The procedure takes about 45 minutes and the recovery period is about 10 minutes. In about an hour you can be free of your varicose veins. You will be able to return to normal activities the very next day.
