Where do you see the specialty of phlebology in 5 years? 10 years?

Venous disease will be treated by board certified experts in venous disease, including vascular surgeons, vascular physicians, dermatologists, vascular radiologists and phlebologists. There will be universal credentialing guidelines for all venous interventionists

A decade ago, few would have foreseen the crossover in types of vein treatments being offered at other specialty practices. Where do you think the next big movement is going to be and how will it affect vein practice?

Endovenous interventions, including angioplasty, stents and stent-grafts will move into the office practice.

In your opinion, which area of research is yielding the most advancement in the field?

In 1973, I received the silver medal at the F.I.S.M. World Championship of Magic in Paris, France, in the category "Manipulation"

What made you decide to work in phlebology and what do you wish you had known before you did?

The challenges of venous surgery. I wish I knew before I started in this field that veins clog much faster than arteries.
