A Not-For-Profit Organization Dedicated to Multidisciplinary Vascular Education and Research

by VIVA Staff

We invite you to come and experience VIVA 10!

Multispecialty Perspectives From vascular surgery, radiology, cardiothoracic surgery and vascular medicine to cardiology, the challenges facing physicians today are staggering. One of the most daunting tasks facing physicians is keeping pace with the evolving technological advances and literature. Entering its eighth year, VIVA (Vascular InterVentional Advances) continues to provide unparalleled education in a unique environment using state-of-the-art computer interaction.VIVA was the first meeting to integrate all specialties involved in the management of vascular disease, including vascular surgery, cardiology, radiology, neurointerventional radiology, vascular medicine, and more recently, cardiothoracic surgery. Audience members will receive honest commentary and debate from all specialists, working toward the development of optimal management strategies for our patients.

You probably already know these facts, but we are proud of the following:

  • Our faculty is picked for their enthusiasm and ability to educate and each specialty is fairly represented.
  • All specialties are well-represented on every panel and in every breakout session.
  • Live case sites always include locations where each specialty is highlighted.

This year’s agenda features a special focus on the treatment of venous thromboembolic disease and the management of large vessel access sites utilized for aneurysm and valve therapies. The latest trial data will also be presented on emerging technologies and how these will be utilized.Course Highlights: Laptop Learning Innovative features and a dynamic international faculty interaction combine to make VIVA the state-of-the-art vascular symposium that should not be missed this year. The innovation continues with an even more robust

Laptop Learning experience. This is the proprietary, state-of-the-art interactive educational platform provided to each course registrant. If you have not experienced this, you must come to Las Vegas in October 2010! If you have attended a prior VIVA meeting, we welcome you back to another educational experience that will allow you to remain at the cutting edge. Each attendee has access to a personal laptop computer that is linked via an intranet to provide an incredible educational portal. The participant can see the entire compendium of VIVA slide presentations at any time, not only when the faculty member is giving the lecture. If a specific reference is mentioned during the meeting, the user can access the resource library, which includes a powerful VIVA search engine. All pertinent references in the field are summarized for review. On your individual laptop, you can watch live cases broadcast from leading centers around the world, even when the case has left the main screen in
the auditorium.

We will give you the unprecedented opportunity to see the case to the finish, should you choose. The greatest advantage of Laptop Learning is the ability to ask virtually any question to the multispecialty VIVA faculty without leaving your seat and to receive an almost instantaneous response on your computer. You can even choose to have the response sent privately to your laptop or share the answer with other attendees.VIVA is the only meeting where attendees can ask questions real time, via computer to a panel of multidisciplinary experts during the ongoing lecture or live case.

VIVA Dialogs and Chalk TalksBy popular demand, we continue to offer VIVA Dialogs and Chalk Talks. During the main meeting, several intimate, inter-active sessions will be available in parallel symposia for a limited number of attendees. These sessions will provide a different forum with open discussions among VIVA faculty and attendees on topics not covered during the main session with indepth analyses of key issues facing the vascular specialist. A Choice of Pre-symposia at No Extra CostPre-symposia sessions on Monday, October 18, 2010 include:

  • Vascular Closure for Large Devices
  • Venous Thromboembolism
  • Allied Health Professionals Session
  • A Special Fellows Endovascular Case Competition

For the first time, VIVA is highlighting the challenges and emerging advances in venous thromboem-bolic disease. The VIVA Pre-Symposium is dedicated to two major aspects of this complex and common series of diseases: the early diagnosis and management of acute deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolus, and the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency. With a world-renowned faculty, this in-depth VIVA pre-symposium will analyze the latest is-sues in this field to a degree that is unparalleled.
