ACP 2010 24th Annual Congress Wrap Up

The Pre-Congress Day kicked off with four tracks, each organized by a moderator: Basic Phlebology Diagnosis and Treatment, Steve Elias, MD, FAC S, FAC Ph; Basic Ultrasonography, Barbara Pohle-Schulze, RVT, RDMS, RDCS, RPhS; Aesthetic Procedures, Paul T. Rose, MD, JD; and Practice Management, Kenneth L. Todd, III, MD, FAC Ph.

Friday welcomed the first of the Congress’ four Special Interest Sessions, followed by the General Scientific Session which included Dr. Paolo Zamboni’s presentation, Current Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Insufficiency. In addition, Suman Rathbun, MD, MS, presented Consensus Study on Foam Sclerotherapy; and Mark H. Meissner, MD, presented Introduction to Scientific Research.

Following the General Session, a variety of educational offerings were available including Abstract Sessions, a Basic Nursing Symposium, and Instructional Courses on topics ranging from the Management of Truncal Veins and Perforators, to Duplex Ultrasonography to the World of Phlebology Symposium, which addressed the issue-of Evidence Based Medicine or Economy Based Medicine. Following the educational sessions, an Opening Night Reception was held in the Exhibit Hall welcoming all participants.

Saturday’s program brought additional Special Interest Sessions, then came the informative General Scientific Sessions which began with VENOUS JEOPARDY. Three teams competed for the coveted crown by answering questions in the areas of Anatomy, History, DVT, Laser, AP, Faces in Phlebology, I’ve Got A Drug Problem, Phlebology Geography, and Funny Veins. The teams were: Team Vino, Drs. Jean- Jerome Guex and Nick Morrison; Team M&M Boys, Drs. G. Mark Malouf and Robert J. Min; and Team RAPA, Drs. Peter J. Pappas and Eberhard Rabe; with Dr. Steven E. Zimmet serving as host of the event. Congratulations to Team Vino which was named the 2010 Phlebology Jeopardy Champion.
