The course is designed to provide practicing vascular surgeons with information regarding the latest technology available in vascular surgery to address a gap in knowledge that exists for practicing surgeons and staff post residency training. The outcome will be increased knowledge, better competency in cutting edge treatment modalities, and enhanced treatment decision-making. It is the expressed goal of the course to provide enough material so that at the end of the course the participant can make educated decisions in the latest pharmacologic, radiologic, surgical and endovascular techniques and technologies and when these treatments are justified and when they are not.

This course will provide the community vascular surgeon with an update on arteries and veins to improve their ability to care for patients who present with vascular disease of arteries and veins and allow an exchange of information and contacts with national and international artery and vein experts (vascular surgeons). It provides CME credits and presents information about the latest techniques as delivered by experts in their field.

Upon completion of the Congress, the participants should be able to:

  • Synthesize and apply into practice information about the latest technologies, techniques and data from clinical trials for endovascular repair of AAAs and thoracic and aortic disease
  • Recall and communicate with peers and patients about the latest data, techniques and technologies for carotid disease management
  • List and describe many of the latest developments in pharmacologic agents for the management of vascular disease
  • Assess the latest state-of-the-art for the treatment of superficial femoral and tibial artery disease
  • Have strategies to integrate information about the treatment of venous disease including recognize the importance of iliofemoral DVT vs. infra inguinal DVT
  • Recognize importance of disobliteration of major pulmonary embolism
