Ninth Annual VIVA Conference Event Preview

VIVA 11 at Wynn Las Vegas celebrates VIVA’s ninth year as one of the premier national education courses for vascular intervention and medicine. A world-renowned international faculty composed of all specialties devoted to the treatment of patients with vascular diseases, combined with groundbreaking educational technology, keeps VIVA at the top of the field in providing state-of-the-art, creative, and interactive education.

A true highlight of VIVA is its multidisciplinary approach to novel education. “It is apparent that VIVA ’s multidisciplinary approach emphasizes true collaboration and dedication to vascular education” said previous attendee Sean P. By including and welcoming faculty and perspectives from vascular surgery, interventional cardiology, vascular medicine, interventional radiology, and cardiothoracic surgery, VIVA truly offers an inclusive educational experience.

EXPANDED PRE-SYMPOSIA INCLUDED IN YOUR TUITION

This year, VIVA will begin with an expanded pre-symposia schedule on Monday, October 17th. VIVA 11 tuition includes one of the following sessions:

  • Medical Innovation and Regulatory Summit: A 360° View: A full day devoted to device development and the associated regulatory pathways. This session will encompass VIVA’s previously very popular event, the FDA Summit, and will provide expert views of device development from concept to commercialization.
  • Thrombosis Summit: A half-day session dedicated to the management of venous and arterial thrombosis.
  • Fellows Case Competition: A half-day competition showcasing presentations from selected Fellows, with special recognition for the winners.
  • Allied Health Professionals Symposium: An expanded full day session dedicated to allied health professionals. This year, VIVA will offer the Laptop Learning™ system to enhance attendees’ ability to interact with Faculty in real-time and take electronic notes.

COMPREHENSIVE VASCULAR AND ENDOVASCULAR BOARD REVIEW COURSE

For the second year, VIVA has partnered with the Society for Vascular Medicine (SVM) to offer a board review course. Beginning on the Saturday prior to the start of VIVA 11, the course will span two full days and will encompass both endovascular and vascular components to prepare physicians for the ABVM exam. This is the only comprehensive board review course of its kind and will benefit both physicians who plan to sit for the test as well as practitioners who just want to stay current on state-of-the-art advances in the field from world-renowned educators.

HIGHLIGHTS OF VIVA 11

At the conclusion of the pre-symposia courses, Tuesday, October 18th marks the official start of VIVA 11. For nearly four days, attendees will have access to presentations from experts from across the globe, insightful debates with provocative panel discussions, and stimulating live cases from the US and Germany. VIVA will also continue to offer the ever-popular concurrent Chalk Talk and Dialog Sessions, which provide a more intimate opportunity to discuss topics in greater detail.

VIVA 11 is also pleased to announce three exciting new elements to its daily agenda:

  • Strategies on the Frontline: A technical concurrent session to hone your procedural skills. This multi-day session offers an intense training experience, for newbies and VIVA veterans alike, in a no-nonsense, situation room setting.
  • International Forum: A poster presentation and competition featuring international perspectives on live cases transmitted in real-time. This two-day session will provide exciting international insight from key global leaders and world-recognized experts. The Forum will align with the live case sessions to gather opinions from Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Japan.
  • 3D @ VIVA! An evening premiere of never-beforeseen cases shown in 3D! This event is sure tostimulate the senses, offering educational highlights from select vascular procedures in a 3D viewing format. This is a red carpet event not to miss!

INTERACTIVE LEARNING

In addition to accessing the aforementioned sessions, each attendee has the opportunity to connect with faculty using VIVA ’s innovative Laptop Learning™ system. Created by VIVA , this technology allows attendees the rare opportunity to interact with faculty via real-time Q&A, ask questions of physicians as they perform live cases, take and download personal electronic notes, participate in live polls and questions that challenge themselves as well as colleagues, and review live case images and all General Session presentations at their leisure. For the first time, this system will also be offered in the allied health pre-symposium and the Board Review Course.
