VEIN Publisher's Note

Publisher’s Note

Thank you for your continued support of VEIN Magazine!  As we publish each quarter, VEIN has the opportunity to provide an insider’s view of the vein industry and related topics that keep you informed about the latest trends and technology that improve our industry. As a result of our efforts to do this we have received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from our readers. For our third issue we are excited to once again bring you quality information to help you stay informed on the news, products, technologies and business of the vein industry. Additionally, each quarter VEIN features articles written by nationally acclaimed vein physicians who specialize in venous disease research and treatment. It is not only our goal to report on the common challenges we face in the industry, but also share the opportunities and decisions being made by you and your colleagues daily.

Our cover story features Suresh Vedantham, M.D., associate professor at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.  Dr. Vedantham shares his vast experience that recently landed him a very important and highly regarded research grant. VEIN is honored to highlight this leader’s contributions to the practice of phlebology within the academic arena and what it means for our readers and their individual practices.

One of VEIN’s goals is to share an attendee’s perspective from the recent conferences and seminars that take place between each edition.  In this issue, Rod Raabe, M.D. reports on his experience at the 33rd Annual SIR Scientific Meeting in D.C., where more than 700 physicians came to learn the latest in interventional radiology practices.

In VEIN’s continued focus on education in phlebology, Neil Khilnani, M.D., will cover the subject of incorporating phlebology into an interventional radiology practice.  With constant advancements and an ever-expanding base of physicians in the field, VEIN will strive to provide applicable news, research and technologies to keep you on top of the waves of change within the industry.

Insurance denials and their effects on your bottom line is a common dilemma that many vein practices have in common. VEIN welcomes Dr. Marlin Schul as he gives us his views and insight into the potential pitfalls and best practices for protecting your business from  lost income and costly mistakes.

Once again VEIN features a column by Steve Elias, M.D., who is extremely passionate about advanced education and an inspiration to all of us. Our Medical Director Steven Zimmet, M.D., gives us an update on the American Board of Phlebology’s certification specifics, Joseph Zygmunt, RVT shares a case study, and Jose Almeida, M.D. discusses round ligament varices.

VEIN is excited to share some of our own news with you, as well.  We are delighted to introduce our new Publisher, Jana Acciacca, who joins us in our quest to promote the delivery of engaging, targeted information to help advance the practice of phlebology.  Please join me in welcoming her to the industry and make sure to take some time to get to know her as she becomes a regular at conferences, events and within the pages of VEIN Magazine.  We look forward to hearing from you and hope to be your leading source for phlebology information in print with VEIN and online via VEINdirectory.org.

Best regards,
