About Evlt

Endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) is a non surgical, non scarring varicose vein treatment alternative that does not require general anesthesia or hospitalization, takes less than an hour to perform and provides immediate relief with little to no pain during the procedure. Laser energy is used to target and seal problem veins, which reduces or completely closes the vein, improving appearance and reducing pain and discomfort.

To perform endovenous laser treatment (EVLT), a trained provider will use ultrasound imaging technology to map the veins in your legs and identify problem veins. A local anesthetic will be delivered, followed by the insertion of a thin laser fiber directly into the venous system. Ultrasound is used to guide the laser fiber into position and laser energy is delivered to the target area. This procedure generally takes less than one hour and is performed on an outpatient basis in a doctor’s office. Patients will be encouraged to walk immediately after receiving endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) and will need to wear compression stockings for one week after the procedure. A follow up visit is required approximately one week after treatment to assess progress and determine if touch ups are needed.

The cost of endovenous laser treatment will depend on your geographical location, the number of veins and treatment areas to be included and your EVLT providers individual fees. In some cases this procedure may be covered by medical insurance when required for the relief of painful symptoms often associated with varicose veins.

To find out more about endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) and to determine if this is the right vein treatment option for you, contact a vein specialist in your area to discuss your options.
