Ankle swelling and numbness

I had endovenous laser of my lower right leg on 4/28 and still have significant pain and swelling in my ankle. I also have the numbness, but I understand that the nerve is involved and hopefully it will heal.

I typically avoid doing EVLA in the lower leg due to the possibility of nerve issues. At this stage I would recommend continuing your compression hose for support and massaging over the numb areas several times per day. If the pain and swelling was present before the ablation, it is possible that you may have some arthritic changes going on too.

Numbness after EVLA is common and resolves over time.

Pain and swelling should get better soon, numbness will likely take
time to recover to some extent. If your symptoms are getting worse,
you should go back to your vein surgeon.

It would be best to either discuss this with the doctor who did your treatment or make an appointment. We don't use laser technology due to the complications. We use VNUS ClosureFast technology. Thanks.

Saphenous nerve injury as well as peroneal nerve injury can occur following saphenous ablation procedures resulting in the symptoms that you describe. Fortunately, these symptoms are usually temporary. I would recommend allowing time for this to heal. It could take up to a year.
