I can't say whether they are in danger, but it sounds as if your compression stockings are not fitting properly. Go back either to the person who prescribed them to you or the place that filled the prescription and tell them what is happening. They should be able to help you.

Lower the compression or just elevate your legs until your doctor can evaluate you. There may have been a measuring error, whereby you were placed in a hose that is too small in size.

Numbness, stiffness, and swelling should not occur during or after wearing compression stockings. This is a matter that needs to be evaluated. See your MD.

You should be refitted for your compression hose. Poor fitting hose can cause discomfort and impair circulation. Seek out an experienced hose fitter or experienced nurse. It's best to ensure that you have the correct strength and a good, quality pair of hose. Cheaper stockings can be more difficult to apply and less comfortable because they have less elasticity.

Your toes should not be in danger, but discontinue wearing the compression stockings until you've had a chance to follow up with your physician and ensure that your circulation is adequate. The numbness, stiffness and swelling could be caused if the hose do not fit properly. In your case, it sounds as though either the stockings are too small or the compression is too high.

No, your toes are not in danger; they should recover when you take the compression stockings off. However, if your toes continue to feel numb, stiff and/or swollen after removing them, contract your physician and seek an evaluation.

My vascular surgeon did an ultrasound and prescribed endovenous laser ablation. She also suggested that I wear compression stockings after the procedure. However, due to severe psoriasis and eczema on my feet, I cannot wear full-coverage stockings that cover them. They must always be in wet dressings, but cannot be fully covered. Would footless compression stockings be just as effective as full-coverage hose following the procedure?
