Can high blood pressure affect varicose vein surgery?

Could elevated blood pressure increase risks during microphlebectomy or other varicose vein surgery or procedures? Is there a recommended treatment for those with HBP?

High blood pressure can affect any kind of surgery. You should have your blood pressure under control before any type of elective surgery or procedure.

High blood pressure, which is elevated pressure in the the arterial circulation, should be treated for your general health whether you have vein surgery or not. The usual office based vein procedures are very safe but may need to be delayed until high blood pressure is treated.

High blood pressure should be treated due to the it's risks. In and of itself, it won't increase the risks of microphlebectomy; however blood pressure must be addressed before any procedure.

When doing procedures in our office, we give most patients a small dose of clonidine (a blood pressure stabilizer).

High blood pressure does not place you at higher risk for any minimally invasive venous procedure.

High blood pressure should be treated prior to any surgery and in general. If appropriately treated, this should not effect vein surgery.
