Yes, 72 hours of straight compression is more than adequate post-sclerotherapy. We instruct our patients to wear their compression hose for a total of five days (only during their waking hours, not at night while sleeping). We also suggest they avoid aerobic exercise for a period of two weeks.

My general recommendation is to wear compression stockings for 72 hours post-sclerotherapy, followed by a period of 1- 4 weeks during awake hours (remove only at bedtime). However, this all depends on the size and extent of the injected veins.

Yes. Assuming that you are undergoing treatments for your legs, I generally allow my patients to stop wearing the stockings at night after only 24-36 hrs. I do require that they wear them during the day when they are on their feet. The stockings are intended to make your legs more comfortable as you heal; they do not determine whether any treatment is effective.

I'm assuming that you are talking about after either a laser or radiofrequency procedure to a saphenous vein. If that is the case, yes. I have my patients wear a stocking for 72 hours continuously after the procedure and then for 3 weeks during the day. You would put your stockings on in bed before you get up for the day and then take them off upon going to bed at night.

I recommend compression stockings for only 48 hours after sclerotherapy, so there is no reason to wear them at night after 72 hours.
