Can i wear my TED stockings if my feet, ankles & calves are already swollen?

I have recently had surgery and was wearing TEDs while I was not mobil, I have had them off for about 4 days and done a lot of walking yesterday and now I have swelling in my feet, ankles & calves. Is it okay to put my TED stockings back on?

If you apply the hose before you get out of bed in the morning it will control your swelling better. I would also be concerned as to the amount of swelling and would advise you follow up with your surgeon.

Yes ok to use the stocking in most cases. See your provider however, to evaluate the cause of the swelling.
You can do better with stockings as well with a graded compression stocking. Ask your provider.

Elevate your legs above you collar bone and when the edema (swelling) has
resolved, then try to put on your hose.

You can put your TED stockings, but make sure to have your doctor looking at your legs making sure you have not developed blood clots.

If they do not feel excessively tight, you should wear them.

First elevate your legs above your heart over night. Then put the stockings on as soon as your get up from sleep before your legs swell and while the swelling is the least. Wear the stockings as long as necessary.

My vascular surgeon did an ultrasound and prescribed endovenous laser ablation. She also suggested that I wear compression stockings after the procedure. However, due to severe psoriasis and eczema on my feet, I cannot wear full-coverage stockings that cover them. They must always be in wet dressings, but cannot be fully covered. Would footless compression stockings be just as effective as full-coverage hose following the procedure?
