Can sclerotherapy become toxic if you have too many injections? What would the side effects be?
One can become allergic to the medicine used for sclerotherapy, but that would be the only toxic problem. Please consult with your physician for more details.

Usually 20cc of sclero is the limit for one session per day. The side effects would depend on the specific drug used for the sclerotherapy. Allergic reactions are always possible. Irritation of the skin, redness and pain at the injection areas are typical, but usually subside after a few days. Any reaction more serious than that is rare and would depend specifically on that person's past medical history.

The sclerosing agents/medications are used in different concentrations, so
it would take a large amount of the higher doses to cause harmful side
affects. The clinician should be well educated in the maximum amount of
medication that can be used in one visit.

Sclerosants are "medications," and like any medication they can cause side effects or allergic reactions. There is a maximum dose that should be given in a single sclerotherapy session. If you know what sclerosant was used during your treatment you can Google the name to look at the maximum dose that should be administered and the possible side effects.

Any medication can essentially be toxic. It is impossible to say, with precise accuracy, what the maximum dosage of sclerosing agent(s) is sufficient for the human body. There are numerous variables, including weight, location of veins, etc. The LD50, or lethal dose, is quite varied with each sclerosing agent. The actual amount of sclerosing agent used in sclerotherapy is determined by the physician.

There is a limit to how much sclerosant medication can be safely
administered per sclerotherapy treatment. However, most doctors are careful not to exceed
the limit.

Sclerotherapy is not toxic. You can, however, have side effects from any sclerotherapy solution and from too much sclerotherapy at any one session. Side effects vary with the solution used, but usually are very infrequent. These side effects can be as simple as itching and as severe as a full anaphylactoid reaction. You should speak with your sclerotherapist about this.
