There is a large vein on my face that doesn't appear to be a broken capillary or spider vein. Could sclerotherapy be used to treat it, or would something else be better?
In our clinic, the doctors routinely use sclerotherapy for certain spider veins. Many can be more easily eliminated with pulsed light laser treatments in a "flash". I recommend a personal consultation to evaluate how big the spider vein is and where it is located. That will determine the proper treatment for your individual case.

Sclerotherapy can be used and works very well on facial spider veins. Other modalities also work well including laser and pulsed light.

We have found that lasers and other pulsed-light treatments work best for facial veins. We would need to evaluate you at a free consultation in order to determine which of our effective lasers would give you the best results.

While sclerotherapy may be used effectively for treatment of facial veins, LASER or pulsed light therapy may be very effective as well. You need to see a physician experienced with management of facial veins and ask for advice after a clinical exam.

Sclerotherapy is an excellent treatment for large bluish veins that are usually on the temples. Sclerotherapy, however, is not very good at treating the fine reddish vessels in the center of the face.

Sclerotherapy is usually too dangerous for the facial veins. The latest treatment for facial veins is Veinwave. Alternatively, laser can work.

Yes it can. BUT, it should be done by a specialist in sclerotherapy with extensive experience doing what I call "micro-sclerotherapy". Meaning understanding that facial skin is very delicate, and to use very low volumes and concentrations of the correct sclerosing solution. Also, I suggest for the treating doctor to use an appropriate polarized light source and magnification (like Syris Light) to see the details of treatment field very clearly and without the distorting effect of light reflections. Once all of the above are considered, sclerotherapy is far superior to lasers in my opinion.

Laser tends to work better on facial veins. I wouldn't recommend
sclerotherapy for facial veins.

It can treat these veins. Also, pulsed light and lasers are very effective
to treat these veins on the face. I believe this works much better on the
face than on the legs. Many dermatologists do these treatments as well as
some vein physicians, and plastic surgeons.

Sclerotherapy is not usually done on facial veins for safety reasons. We do however treat many facial veins with a transcutaneous YAG laser with good results.

We typically treat facial veins with either sclerotherapy or light
treatment. You would need to schedule a screening with one of the doctors in
order to determine which treatment would be best for you.
