Treated 2/28/14 minor saphenous vein. Aspirated twice. Tenderness and lumps ever since the initial procedure. Can't go without compression - hurts/aches/swells. Can sitting in a hot tub 2 months after procedure worsen symptoms or cause to reverse?
The effects of sclerotherapy are complete several weeks after treatment. Sitting in a hot tub at this point (2 months) will not affect the results. In fact, a hot tub help the aches.

No. By two months, everything that is shut down will stay shut down. No problems with hot tubs.

If the treated vein is successfully closed two months following treatment, it is unlikely that a hot tub will compromise your results or worsen the symptoms of healing. If the vein is partially open, then the heat could
cause the vein to dilate and recanalize (re-open) sooner. Tenderness and lumps at the site of treated varicose veins usually indicate the procedure was a success and should slowly resolve over several months time.

I normally do not recommend sitting in a hot tub early on in the treatment process. That said, you are at least 2 months out, and as a result it should really not be a big issue. However, if you still have discomfort in your treated leg to the point where it still aches and hurts without compression, it usually means that your treated vessels are not closed. You really should not have much discomfort 2+months out. You need to have your legs re-evaluated.

A hot bath should have no adverse effect. Regarding your current symptoms, have you had a follow-up with your doc yet?

It would not worsen your symptoms or reverse the treatment after 2 months. Usually, we ablate the small saphenous vein rather than foam sclerotherapy, which would have had a higher closure rate and less lumps and bumps. You can try NSAIDS Ibuprofen/Aleve to help the pain, or even try a Medrol dose pack from your doctor if you are still having pain in the area.

Sitting in a hot tub 2 months after a closure procedure should not worsen any symptoms and, in fact, may improve symptoms, especially the tender lumps. If the lumps still hurt you, wet heat to these areas and ibuprofen may also help.

No, that will not affect the results of your procedure at all. It might even feel good at this juncture.
