Do compression stockings cause bruises on the mid-foot?

I am a 16 years old and have been put in compression stocking after a severe midfoot fracture I recived playing hockey. I have only been in it for two days and have started to get brusing on my midfoot where I fractured it. Is that normal?

It is possible that the hose are reducing your swelling and that the deeper bruising is moving to the surface. As long as you are not having increased pain or skin breakdown it should clear with time. If not, see your doctor.

If they're too tight in one spot you may get some bruising. That is not normal, so maybe you need a different stocking with a larger size

You may consider open toe stockings since you have an injured foot. Consult with your physician or surgeon who treated you.

The bruising is most likely from your fracture and not the stocking. Bruising occurs several days after the injury. If the fracture occurred several weeks ago and now the bruising started after wearing the stocking, then it could be related to the compression of the stocking. You should follow up with your treating physician.

My vascular surgeon did an ultrasound and prescribed endovenous laser ablation. She also suggested that I wear compression stockings after the procedure. However, due to severe psoriasis and eczema on my feet, I cannot wear full-coverage stockings that cover them. They must always be in wet dressings, but cannot be fully covered. Would footless compression stockings be just as effective as full-coverage hose following the procedure?
