I've done a few treatments at one month apart each and would like to continue, but I have to go out of town for a while and must postpone my treatments until I get back (pushing the next treatment to 2 mos). Will this negatively affect results or does it matter?
You want to wait 3-4 weeks between sclerotherapy treatments in order to maximize the results. Waiting more than four weeks is not detrimental, it just delays the time it takes to get rid of the problematic veins. However, if you wait too long the shrinking that occurs after a treatment may stop and allow the veins to enlarge again. That is why we encourage you to have your treatments regularly and about 3-4 weeks apart.

It shouldn't affect your treatments. It would be a good idea though, to wear a light compression sock during that trip, especially if you are going to be on your feet for extended periods of time.

There is a general consensus that waiting at least a month allows for the maximum effect to be seen. if you treat at 1 week intervals, for example, you are just injecting the veins you already injected. On the other hand you don't lose anything by waiting longer.

The effectiveness of sclerotherapy can be influenced by the frequency of treatments. Although it would not matter if two treatments on *separate legs* were performed two days, two weeks, or two months apart, veins in proximity may require time to heal or resolve; the concentration (density pattern) and size of veins being treated can also influence how *timing* between treatments maximizes results. Generally speaking, more
time will not adversely effect outcome, but prolong treatment.

It shouldn't affect your prior treatment but all our patients are recommended to do stage follow up.

This amount of delay is insignificant.

It does not have a negative affect on results of treatment. Just keep in mind that with sclerotherapy it takes time to completely heal. Waiting longer between treatments gives the treated veins more time to
heal. So no worries with waiting.

It will not negatively affect your results. In fact, it may even be helpful.

Three to four weeks is a good treatment interval to allow healing and bruising to resolve. Extending the next treatment to eight weeks should not cause any problem, but your doctor is the best resource to ask.

It doesn't matter. The longer period is preferable to allow veins to close and undergo changes

Good question. We recommend 4 weeks between the first and seond treatment. We then may go to 6-8 weeks before the third treatment. However, if the patient has extensive spider veins we continue with 4 week intervals. No harm would be done by taking a longer break - you would be completely healed when you came back and your sclerotherapist would see what remains to be treated.

Waiting an additional month or 2 will not adversely affect your results. I generally perform sessions 2 -3 weeks apart and as long as 2-3 months apart. The longer you wait, the more the treated veins will fade and more clearly delineate which veins still need treatment.

No problem with waiting longer.

It should not make any difference.

There is no absolute rule for a time between sclerotherapy treatments. Most people recommend at least 6 weeks between treatments because this is the average amount of time that it takes to see the full effects of a sclerotherapy treatment. I have seen treatments scheduled from several weeks to as long as 3 months apart. I schedule my treatments at 6 week intervals.
