Does having MS prevent me from having sclerotherapy?

I have MS and am totally fine but want to eliminate spider veins on my lower legs and behind my knees. Is sclerotherapy ok to do?

We have treated patients with M.S., but it is ideal to have medical clearance from your neurologist.

It should be fine for you to have sclerotherapy. Your diagnosis of MS would not necessarily contraindicate your having sclerotherapy treatments for spider veins.

Sclerotherapy is safe for varicose veins and spider veins. The clinic you visit to have your veins treated will consult with you on your condition before hand.

We have treated patients with MS with good results. There is no direct contraindication to having sclerotherapy or laser treatments. The challenge may be if the patient suffers from muscle spasms which create limb jerking. However, an experienced sclerotherapist can handle these movements and perform successful treatments using both laser and injections.

As long as you are in remission at the time of treatment, sclerotherapy should be okay. Always ask your neurologist, since they are familiar with the status of your condition.
