Treated spider veins are gone but this is a hereditary condition so over
time you will develop new ones.

If you have a series of treatments (average areas can take 3-5) you should have permanent results in those treated veins. However, most people are genetically pre-disposed to vein problems so it is possible to develop new spider/varicose veins.

That said, most people have had veins developing for many years before they seek initial treatment. Most people don't wait that amount of time before seeking future treatments - they want to stay on top of it. Typically sclerotherapy results are 70-80% clearing for a series of treatments.

Sclerotherapy is a gradual process. You have a tendency to form spider
veins, as you age you would develop more, not necessarily in the same places
as previously treated. We have many patients who are completely satisfied
with their legs and may come in every few years for a touch-up.

Once a vein is closed they generally do not reopen. Usually new veins will form over years.

The treated veins generally resolve within a couple months of the treatment. New ones can recur however. That depends on the patient and other factors as well. If they recur it usually takes a few years, but they can be retreated as needed.

This is a difficult question to answer. If thou have underlying reflux, then sclerotherapy will probably be temporary. If no reflux, then sclero will have better long term and short term results. Many other factors play a role such as family history, prior pregnancies, body habits, etc. Also the expertise of the person doing the sclerotherapy is crucial. The bottom line with sclerotherapy is that it is not permanent and will require periodic touch up treatments.
