I hade sclerotherapy yesterday, but I can still see a few of the veins that were treated. How long until all the veins disappear?
Sclerotherapy is a process: first, we cause inflammation (phlebitis), often associated with blood clot within the veins (thrombosis). The body will recognize that the veins have no flow within them and start absorbing them. There are often multiple sessions needed for complete elimination of the spider and reticular veins. We tell our patients that the veins will look worse first, but are expected to disappear over time. Small spider veins may need laser vein removal later.

Sclerotherapy is a process and may require multiple treatments. Most of my patients take an average of 3 to 5 treatments to resolve the veins. I schedule the treatments 6 weeks apart and tell patients that some veins will resolve within 2-3 weeks, some will resolve over 6 weeks, and some will require additional treatments.

It is quite variable from patient to patient and from vein to vein. Most of the times takes at least 3-4 weeks before some results can be appreciated, however could go as long as 3 months.before improvement can be noticeable. Some go away right away some look worse and slowly fade. It rarely is done in one treatment.

Usually the veins that are going to fade will do so in a few weeks. Those that haven't faded will need to be retreated (delay by at least 4 weeks). The typical patient requires 3 - 6 treatment session to obtain good results.

It could take up to six weeks for you to see results after each treatment. In addition to that, it takes most patients an average of four to six treatments before they see the results they ultimately want. So, you will need to be patient, it is not an instant solution.

Usually 6-8 weeks and some pigmentation can take longer to resolve.

May need more than one treatment. Give it at least 3-4 weeks before evaluating it.
