Nearly 3 weeks ago I had sclerotherapy performed on the reticular veins in one of my legs. The second leg was treated 1 week ago. How long should it take to see results and how do I tell if is working?
In some cases, results can take up to 6 months. Depending on the solution that was used and the dosage, it may vary. We use the name brand "Asclera" Polidocanol solution, which works very well and has minimal side effects.

You typically see improvement within a week. That being said, when treating reticular veins, it typically takes multiple treatments to effectively eliminate them. Therefore, if you have only had one treatment, you probably will not see a significant change.

After one week, the sclero should shut down the vein. There might be some staining after 1 week, but that should fade with time. Sometimes more than 1 session of injections are required, just like spider vein sclero.

It can vary depending on the size of the veins and concentration of medication. It is also user dependent too.
It can take a few months to see the complete results.

It can take 4 -6 weeks for the vein to go away after a treatment. You can see some changes earlier, such as darkening and hardening of the vein limiting the blood flow in it. I would check with your doctor and share any
concerns you might have with him or her.

Veins usually resolve over a couple of months if effectively treated. Bigger veins take longer than smaller veins.

The legs will generally look worse before they start to look better. You will typically see the final results at around one month, but that can vary between patients.

Sclerotherapy is a process and may take up to six weeks to see results. Often times veins look worse before they tend to look better. I recommend six weeks between treatments, and I tell patients that it may take several treatments to see improvement and even then we may not necessarily eradicate all of them. You can tell if the sclerotherapy is working by seeing a lesser amount of veins.
