I'm a very active 37-year-old female. I will be having bilateral endovenous laser ablation. I have a desk job and am wondering how much time I should take off work after the procedure. How long before I can resume sex?
As for the time taken off of work, you will need to discuss this with your treating physician. Regarding sex, whenever you want.

You and your doctor should this discussion since you are under his care. In general, 1 day is sufficient, unless you are a professional athlete or climb ladders. Your body will tell you when you can resume sex.

As far as work and taking time off, it depends on your pain tolerance and how you feel after your procedure. We recommend that patients continue with their normal daily activities as if they never had a procedure at all. We have patients who have procedures and then return to work that same day. As far as your other activities, you should listen to your body and act accordingly. You may have some pain and discomfort but each case is different.

You will only need to take a couple of days off after the procedure. No problem with sex.

Discuss this with your treating physician. The amount of time needed off varies from person to person. Most daily activities can be resumed immediately. Heavy physical activity should be delayed for 3-7 days.

My patients prefer to take off work for the day of the procedure. They may also take the next day off to elevate their legs and walk around frequently to boost circulation. That said, many return to work the next day if they are in jobs such as yours. However, they understand that with going back the next day they must be able to get up and walk around frequently, stay well hydrated and elevate their legs periodically throughout the day, if possible.

After endovenous laser ablation, most people go back to work the next day. There are no prohibitions from sex after the procedure, just let common sense be your guide.

When we perform thermal ablation there is no prohibition of sexual relations, nor is time off desk work recommended. Obviously, check with your doctor for his/her instructions, which may differ.

You should be able to return to work within 2 to 3 days after the ablation. If you do both sides and microphlebectomies, you may need to be off longer. I never do both sides at the same time, and I always do microphlebectomies when necessary at the same time of the ablation. I tell my patients to return to work as soon as they feel comfortable and can do their job. There are no restrictions on resuming sexual activity.
