How long will I have to wear compression stockings after varicose vein surgery?
And, are there any options in terms of colors or styles?

Compression stockings after a venous procedure almost always improve healing and act as an analgesic by the compression. Your Phlebologist, vein specialist, should advise you best, as the nature of the procedure may help to provide this answer for you. It is also almost always beneficial for venous heath even without a procedure, so many Phlebologists may recommend converting from a thigh higher degree of compression hose to a "maintenance" knee high type. There are many brands, models, and colors available these days. The key is proper fitting, supportive guidance and professional instruction regarding application and care. I do not feel this is a "retail" item, in a breach in any of the above may result in loss of benefit and not infrequently can be harmful if not monitored.

Compression hose are usually worn 1-2 weeks after varicose vein surgery and then as needed for long-term venous health. Compressive ACE wraps (or similar) are usually placed at the time of the procedure and these are removed in 1-2 days. The patient then wears their hose as prescribed depending on the procedure. There are numerous different styles and strengths of compressive hose which makes fitting each patient to their body style and activities much easier.

Yes, compression stockings are required after varicose vein treatments and they actually help control pain. There are many colors/styles to choose from.

I generally recommend socking usage for two weeks after any of these procedures. The stockings we use are available in various shades of beige/taupe as well as Black and sometimes blue as well.

The length of time for stockings depends on the type of treatment and the Doctor. The most I recommend is two weeks but may go longer if the patient has certain symptoms. And yes there are a variety of styles and colors but we only stock a few, you may have to order some types.

We only require patients to wear compression hose after the VNUS Closure procedure, not after vein stripping. Patients are required to wear compression hose for 2 weeks after VNUS Closure. We offer thigh highs or pantyhose, in black or beige. When patients have sclerotherapy-injections for spider veins-we require that they wear compression hose for 5 days after each treatment.
