How painful is an embolization treatment in the labia to treat a venous malformation?

How painful is an embolization treatment in the labia to treat a venous malformation? Is it true that the venous malformation will return after an embolization? If so, how soon? Is there a significant amount of pain after the embolization? What can relieve this pain?

Usually sclerotherapy is the treatment used to treat labial varices. I have never heard of labial varices being treated by way of embolization, unless the veins are deeper in the pelvic. If that is the case, a pelvic venogram would be used and coils to close those pelvic veins would be placed.

Depends on size and type, but embolization in general is a painful procedure.

Embolization is usually not a painful procedure. Certainly IV sedation can be given at the time. There should be no post-procedure pain. There is a recurrence rate after the treatment of arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). You need to speak with the person performing the procedure.
