I continue to have pain after VNUS surgery.

I had VNUS surgery 3 years ago on my left leg. I have a dull ache in my leg that I never had before surgery. I especially notice it at night in bed. It often bothers me enough to wake me up. I never had the ache before surgery. What causes this?

How long after VNUS surgery did the dull ache begin?
Did you have any symptoms in your left leg prior to VNUS surgery?
Leg pain can be a vascular, musculoskeletal or neurologic issue. If your symptoms are more apparent when you are in bed (and your leg elevated), it may be that another problem is the cause and not venous insufficiency. If you havce not already done so, you should consult your vascular physician for their assessment and then consult another specialist for further guidance.

If you have already seen your vein doctor and not had a repeat scan get a
second opinion with ultrasound for residual venous insufficiency and make
sure all the other saphenous veins are inspected. If the pain is not
localized over the closed vein or not numbness around the ankle or distal
calf, you might have other veins that have opened up.

Adequate use of tumescent anesthesia (dilute numbing medicine injected
around the treated vein) during the VNUS procedure should help protect you
from nerve damage. Nevertheless, ttemporary sensory nerve damage may still
occur with any needle based and heat based technique, but typically resolve
within months.A physical exam will be needed to find the most probably cause.

I doubt that this discomfort is due to your VNUS surgery. There is a nerve in the vicinity of the vein that can be heated by the RF catheter but your symptoms are not typical of vein related problems. I would recommend that you follow up with a neurologist as an initial evaluation.

Ijust had VNUS closure surgery 4 days ago and the pain is minimal. But, I did notice today it feels like there is a throbbing or heartbeat, almost like a twitching or pumping in my upper leg. It doesn't hurt. Is this normal? What's causing the pulsing/throbbing? Also, am I able to tan (tanning bed or stand up) if I wear my support hose so my leg is not directly exposed to the light, and if I don't use tanning lotion on the leg?? When will the fat, worm-like veins go down or look better?
