I have an open blister and fluid leakage 1 week after VNUS surgery, is this normal? What should I do?

I had VNUS surgery 8 days ago and really haven't had any problems until yesterday. I removed the butterfly closers and noticed the pathway of the vein, which had been red and rigid. Also, there is now an open blister with fluid running. Is this normal? What should I do?

You need to set up an appointment with the doctor who treated you. He/she should examine/evaluate the treated area. If he/she is of no assistance, contact and meet with your primary care physician, or you may wish to set up an appointment with another vein specialist who is more qualified/equipped to treat you.

The hardness in the vein is a normal post procedure finding. The blister can be due to one of several factors: the most common would be irritation from the steristrip(butterfly), next blistering can occur from irritation from the stocking or ace bandage rubbing against the area, next would be from swelling and lastly would be a superficial burn from the procedure (which seems unlikely). Treat it locally with a topical antibacterial ointment or silvadene and follow up with your treating physician .

Follow up with your doctor. There should not be any blister. Sometime blisters are as result of compression stocking that rub against the skin. Your doctor will prescribe a cream that you need to apply on it.

Ijust had VNUS closure surgery 4 days ago and the pain is minimal. But, I did notice today it feels like there is a throbbing or heartbeat, almost like a twitching or pumping in my upper leg. It doesn't hurt. Is this normal? What's causing the pulsing/throbbing? Also, am I able to tan (tanning bed or stand up) if I wear my support hose so my leg is not directly exposed to the light, and if I don't use tanning lotion on the leg?? When will the fat, worm-like veins go down or look better?
