After having sclerotherapy 6 weeks ago, now I am having intense pain in my foot and am having trouble walking on it. is this normal? The physician says it is not related to the sclerotherapy or vein stripping i had done on same leg.
There are many possible causes of foot pain, and it is impossible to say if your pain is due to your vein procedures. Veins can be injured from a closure procedure and rarely from sclerotherapy, though it is possible. You may want to see a podiatrist for an opinion. Over the years, I have seen patients complain of things after vein procedures that turn out to be completely unrelated to the vein procedures.

I really can't answer that question with any confidence. It could be related, but that question is complicated and would need evaluation with ultrasound at the very least to try to make an educated answer.

Difficult to tell if related. A neuropathy can develop after stripping or evlt . Usually this results in pain and numbness around ankle and inner forefoot. It should improve with time, but can take up to a year to resolve. I am unaware of this problem with sclerortherapy. Unless a direct injury to nerve with needle occurred.

Only a physician experienced in management of venous disease who actually examines you can answer your question.

It is not possible to make that sort of call without examination.

Most likely not, especially if it has come on 6 weeks after the treatment. I would recommend a consult with an orthopedist or podiatrist.

Hard to know without seeing your foot and knowing exactly what was done?

I don't know. I would go see another doctor who specializes in foot injuries.

Unlikely but it depends on where and the character of the pain in the foot. If it is tingling or numbness along the course of the removed vein it could be related, but deep foot heel or toe pain likely has no relation, you may wish to see a foot specialist as well.

Nerve damage is a potential complication of vein stripping, but you would have noticed this soon after your procedure. It would be very unusual to have the symptoms you describe after sclerotherapy especially 6 weeks after treatment. Perhaps a consult with a neurologist, or physical medicine & rehab physician would be beneficial.
