If you wear thigh-high compression stockings, will it cause your overall body to feel cold? If so, is this OK?

I'm normally hot-natured. I wore compression stockings yesterday and felt cold. I took them off last night and felt my normal self this morning. Does this mean they're too tight? Or, does this mean it's helping my circulation and I'm not used to it? Thank you

Best to ask the doctor who prescribed the stockings about this. He/she is informed of your medical condition, height, weight, etc.

Many of my patients claim the affected leg feels much cooler when wearing hose due to improving the circulation in a leg with refluxing veins. This could create a sense of overall coolness. As long as the hose were measured and fitted by someone experienced, it should not be a problem.

Having compression stockings for vein compression should not make you feel cold. Now, if the stockings are very tight, there is a risk that it could reduce arterial blood flow to the legs, especially if there is pre-existing peripheral arterial disease. Typically, compression stocking stiffness is much less than normal arterial pressures (stocking of 30-40 mmHg vs arterial presures of 120 mmHg). Narrowing of the arteries can reduce the arterial pressure in the legs. If this sensation persists, it may be a good idea to consult a physician for further examination.

Most people feel hot with compression hose on. Try to wear them more.

This is an interesting experience. Compression stockings usually have an affect on the leg or legs they are worn on. The patient may have a small effect on their overall temperature, with most feeling a bit warmer. Still, properly fit stockings do help with circulation.

Compression stockings should not cause your body to feel cold. If this continues to occur, then they may not be fitting properly and you should change them.

Compression stockings should not cause you to feel cold. There is not an issue will having a lower body temperature, but you can check with your treating physician if you are truly concerned.

Wearing compression stockings is unlikely to affect your body's thermo-regulatory functions, and probably has nothing to do with your perceived feeling of cold.

However, due to severe psoriasis and eczema on my feet, I cannot wear full-coverage stockings that cover them. They must always be in wet dressings, but cannot be fully covered. Would footless compression stockings be just as effective as full-coverage hose following the procedure?
