Is it normal to have pain and pressure after radical hysterectomy?

After radical hysterectomy i am still having pain and pressure on my left side. What are the best treatment options if over the counter medicines don't work? I have had a radical hysterectomy and still have the pelvic congestion. Now the pain and pressure are getting worse.

If your ovaries are removed and still having pain and if your symptoms are pelvic vein congestion then this may be due to internal iliac vein reflux and stasis
You need iliac vein duplex to look for internal iliac vein reflux

This is probably not a vein problem. You need to go back to your surgeon.

You do not say how far out post-operatively you are, but I really think you should be addressing these questions to your surgeon and seeing them for your post operative care.

If you have obstruction and collateralization of pelvic veins, you may have what is referred to as pelvic congestion syndrome. This is best addressed by a vein specialist familiar with it. You should ask your gynecologist about this, as you do not specify how recently you had surgery and I do not know what they saw inside. Pelvic ultrasound is difficult to interpret and a contrast x-ray or CT may provide vital information.

It is not uncommon to have these symptoms following a radical hysterectomy, but if your surgery was over 6 months ago, these symptoms would not be expected. You need to follow up with your gynecologist. If you indeed have pelvic congestion syndrome, then you should consult with a vein specialist for their input as to further treatment.

A pelvic ultrasound would be needed and a possible venogram to determine treatment.
