Did you have any swelling in your leg or ankle before the phlebectomy? Swelling is an uncommon side effect of the procedure and most of the time it will resolve within a few months following the procedure. I would follow-up with your physician if it has persisted this long after treatment.

When you state a phlebectomy this means one varicose vein was removed. Phlebectomy alone would be unlikely to cause lower leg swelling and I would recommend you be evaluated and have an ultrasound by a board certified surgeon who specializes in varicose vein treatment. Not all swelling is vein related.

It is not normal for a patient to have swelling of the leg one year after a phlebectomy. This needs further evaluation by a vein specialist to determine what else needs to be done.

It would just signify that there might be veins that are new and untreated or that there are other problems contributing to the swelling. It would be a good idea to have another ultrasound.

No it is not . Mild swelling can occur temporarily for a few days or weeks after any vein procedure but should not persist for one year. The reason is unrelated to Phlebevtomy

Is not normal to have swelling one year after phlebectomy. You should go back for a recheck and probably have another ultrasound.

It all depends. It is normal to have some swelling at the end of the day.
I don't know if you have any lymphedema, which can cause swelling.
Some medications or persistent venous insufficiency can cause it.
By one year, swelling directly related to the phlebectomized veins should be
less, but there are many causes that only can be detected by an examination
and a duplex ultrasound evaluation by a vein specialist.

No it is not. Your doctor should look into seeing what else could be causing thismore veins or non-venous causes.

I followed all of the doctor's orders given post-op. Upon a recheck yesterday, no infection was found, but during the ultrasound the pain upon the docs pressing the area was excruciating and I felt a burning sensation go all the way up leg.
