Is it normal to have tingling and tightness 2 months after the endovenous laser ablation procedure?

After riding my lawn mower I have tingling & tightness in my inner thigh & knee area. Is this normal? I had the endovenous laser ablation procedure done about 2 months ago.

Yes, keep in mind the vein has been ablated but is still present, it may take up to 6 months for these symptoms to subside. Follow up is important .

Yes, this is normal after a thermal ablation. The sensations you are describing most likely are due to the closed vein shrinking and being broken down by the body. This sensation may occur intermittently over the next several months. If you experience any intense or worsening pain or swelling, then you should be seen by your physician as soon as possible.

Yes, it is. Sometimes it takes a few months to properly heal from a laser ablation. You did have a follow up ultrasound to ensure the vein is closed?

It may or may not be related. Bear in mind that the saphenous vein which was sealed, is a large vessel and it takes time for the body to dissolve this away. It may be the vibration of the mower causes additional sensitivity. Try gentle massage of the area, apply low heat often and maybe wear your compression stocking while mowing. It should resolve with time.

Difficult question to answer with limited info. I would definitely have an in depth conversation with your provider and discuss further.

It is not abnormal to have some residual sensation in the area treated with endovenous laser.

What you describe is a normal finding post ablation due to the contracting vein following the ablation. This treated vein runs from the ankle to the groin along the inside of your leg and, as it contracts, you may feel this discomfort. Heat, ibuprofen and compression may help. This usually resolves anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months post ablation.
