Depends on the type of varicose vein surgery that was performed. Sometimes if sclerotherapy injections were done, they can stain the vein that was injected and appear as a bruise if the veins were really close to the skin surface.

Some of the bruising may be discoloration (hyperpigmentation) from the procedure(s). This can still fade, but should be evaluated by your treating physician.

It may be some pigment change from the procedure; this can happen. I would discuss this with your doctor.

It's normal to still have pigmentation several months after vein surgery, but not bruising. See your doctor for a follow-up. A physical examination and ultrasound should be able to reveal the source behind your bruising.

It is possible that postoperatively you had some subdermal or subcutaneous bleeding and that blood has not yet been fully absorbed. If this is of concern to you, however, you should probably see your vascular surgeon to confirm that it is not anything more serious.

It depends on what kind of procedure you had performed. If you had large varicose veins which were removed, then yes it is not unusual to have some residual bruising. This make take up to one year to fully reabsorb.

If the bruising is in the area of the treated veins, then, although this is a long time for bruising post procedure, it can happen. Often times trapped blood either in a vein treated by endovenous ablation or by microphlebectomies may cause continued discoloration which resembles bruising. This can be improved by evacuating the clotted blood under local anesthesia with a small needle. You should follow up with your treating physician.
