Is it OK to start wearing a compression sock again many weeks after the VNUS procedure?

I wore the compression sock on the treated leg for the first two weeks. I stopped wearing it for the next three weeks but the healing process seems to be taking longer than I'd like. Is there any issue with me wearing the compression sock again? Will it promote healing?

It is fine to wear the stocking as needed.

It can take longer than a month or two to see full results after treatment. Not everyone reacts the same way to treatment. Follow up with your vein specialist after the procedure for the sequence of ultrasound scans to mainly evaluate for lower extremity deep veins patency, superficial thrombophlebitis, and closure of the superficial vein that was treated. Be patient with the healing process and discuss any concern with your provider. Your vein specialist can help you with recommendations after the procedure to best manage your care and any discomfort.

Wearing support hose one week after VNUS Closure is certainly allowed, particularly if you had very large bulky varicosities prior to the procedure. I inform my patients that they may use them as needed for comfort, but is not necessary to improve the outcome of the procedure.

You can, but it is not necessary to begin wearing compression socks again. They won't hurt and might help if you have associated varices.

There is no downside to wearing the compression hose longer than 2 weeks. In fact, they will help with swelling and discomfort.

There should no problem with you wearing the compression stockings again, especially if they make your legs feel better.

We recommend wearing the compression stockings 3 weeks post-treatment and any time the patient desires to wear them. There is no issue with wearing the compression stockings everyday or just for comfort as your body continues to heal.

I recommend wearing compression hose for 48 hours following a closure procedure. If patients have continued symptoms improved by wearing support hose then I tell them to wear them as long as they feel that they are helping. There is no contraindication to wearing the compression hose again.

After a endogenous procedure, I generally recommend that my patients wear their compression hose daily for three months. Anecdotally, it seems to help with the healing process, but there is no proof.

Ijust had VNUS closure surgery 4 days ago and the pain is minimal. But, I did notice today it feels like there is a throbbing or heartbeat, almost like a twitching or pumping in my upper leg. It doesn't hurt. Is this normal? What's causing the pulsing/throbbing? Also, am I able to tan (tanning bed or stand up) if I wear my support hose so my leg is not directly exposed to the light, and if I don't use tanning lotion on the leg?? When will the fat, worm-like veins go down or look better?
