I have been having severe leg pain from my hip down, especially in the knee area, due to thickening of my uterus. I am being scheduled for a hysterectomy. The compression stockings seem to give some relief for now. Is this common? Is it OK to wear these?
I am sorry, but that question would best be answered by an OB/GYN physician. We primarily treat varicose veins in the legs. Good luck to you.

Compression stockings may help and should not hurt.

It is certainly fine to wear compression stockings prior to your surgery. I cannot, however, explain how thickening of your uterus would cause your pain. You should be evaluated by a vein specialist.

Great question. Wearing a compression stocking of 15-20 or 20-30mmHg will do no harm and if it provides relief, it is safer than medication. However, you should consult with your gynecologist also. Ensure that you are measured and fitted correctly for the hose and there should be no problem.

Wear the compression stockings; they help avoid blood clots.

Not usual, but it's OK to wear the compression hose if they help with discomfort.

I am not aware of this scenario, but I thinks it's OK to wear compression hose if it helps. Have your legs been examined for reflux with ultrasound?

You can certainly use compression stockings. If you have pelvic problems and leg pains, you must have venous insufficiency. I would suggest that you get an evaluation of your leg's venous circulation to determine if there is any venous reflux. Consult with a vein specialist after you recover from your hysterectomy.
Good luck with the surgery and I hope you have an easy recovery.
