Is it okay if some of the clotted veins are not drained during sclerotherapy?

The doctor drained them, but there is one on my wrist that is hard and goes up my arm. Even though he meant to do just the wrist, this one is hard to see, but I can feel it. Is that okay?

This can be drained also, just bring it to his attention.

Generally these resolve well with time but see your provider to check it and be sure there is no deep vein clot.

This is the very reason that I, as a vascular surgeon, do no inject hand veins. I remove them through tiny punctures (microphlebectomy) and in one treatment they are gone. I can inject any very small veins if the patients wishes later. You may have a phlebitis (inflamed vein) or it can be clotted off. I will always see my patients if there are any issues such as this and advise they be drained. Healing is faster and it reduces the incidence of pigmentation of the skin over the vein. You can try low heat over the area often, using a cream such as Dermaka which aids in reducing bruising/pigmentatin and faster healing.

Clotted veins do not have to be drained. Usually they are drained for pain, discoloration or to avoid staining. Local heat and anti-inflammatory agents can also help.
