Is it safe to do slerotherapy in the summer?
Sure it is, just inconvenient and uncomfortable if you live in a warm
climate. You should avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks after
sclerotherapy and my recommendation to my patients is to wear compression
hose for 3 full days and nights (except for showering) and for a total of 2
weeks during the day time.

It is safe to do sclerotherapy in the summer. We usually recommend avoiding sun exposure by keeping treated areas covered and using a good SPF of 30 or more such as Invisible Zinc. Any time you disturb the skin, you can activate the melanin cells and can get pigmentation darker than the surrounding areas. Also to consider is that most practices require you wear compression hose for a short time after the treatments.

Sclerotherapy is safe to do in the summer but there are some drawbacks. We recommend no direct sun exposure to the treated areas for 4 weeks following sclerotherapy to lessen the risk of the treated vessels darkening (hyperpigmentation) following treatment. In addition, the compression hose that are utililized after sclerotherapy by most clinic can be hot in the summer months (unless you stay in the air conditioning in the summer).

Sclerotherapy is safe any time of the year. The only reason some patients prefer to get sclerotherapy is winter time is related to bruising for 2 weeks after sclerotherapy which may prevent some patients enjoy their summer clothing. YOu can be in the sun after sclerotherapy. Avoiding the sun for few days is true after external laser treatments for different skin conditions and for hair removal. MOst phlebologist believe that external laser has no place in treatment of unsightly leg veins, a fact observed by myself as well. Sclerotherapy is the gold standard treatment for unsightly veins of legs, provided it is performed by a knowledgeable and experienced phlebologist.

Yes, but somewhat inconvenient in terms of having to avoid tanning during the healing process and also having to wear compression stockings after treatment

Yes, it is safe. However your legs will be bruised and you may have some discoloration. You will need to stay out of the sun until they heal and you will likely need to wear compression hose for a period of time. Because of these other reasons, patients avoid sclerotherapy during the summer months, but it is safe.

Yes, but skin overlying the areas of sclerotherapy may be sun sensitive and sun screen should be used.
